ART OF DANCE DRESS CODE
At Art of Dance Salado, we LOVE to see our dancers express themselves through their dance style! However, we expect our dancers to look and dress like dancers. Clean, well arranged, and modest attire is required. Our dancers are expected to wear hair UP in a bun, two buns, French braid, or slicked back ponytail/braids etc. Please make sure dancers remove jewelry that can cause harm such as hoop earrings, bracelets, and necklaces that can catch. Read below for your dancer’s specific class attire:
DANCE SHOES AND SOME DANCE WEAR available in our boutique: discount bundles available
DURING COLD MONTHS, ALL DANCERS MAY WEAR FORM FITTING WARM UP ATTIRE AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS AS LONG AS IT IS CONSIDERED DANCE ATTIRE.
CREATIVE MOVEMENT I: Dancers may wear any color leotard, skirt, tutu, pink tights and pink, leather ballet shoes. (tights are not required in hot weather)
CREATIVE MOVEMENT II: Dancers may wear any color leotard, skirt, tutu, pink tights, pink, leather ballet shoes, and black, patent leather tap shoes. (tights are not required in hot weather)
ALL DANCE DISCOVERY: Dancers may wear any color leotard, skirt, tutu, pink tights—pink leather ballet shoes, black, patent leather tap shoes. (tights are not required in hot weather)
BALLET/JAZZ: Dancers may wear any color leotard, unitard, leggings, tights, bike shorts, crop top that is not a sports bra, etc. Jazz pants or sweats may be put over leggings/tights for jazz portion of class. PINK BALLET SHOES AND TAN JAZZ SHOES. (tights are not required; however, bike shorts, skirt or leggings required if no tights)
ALL TAP CLASSES: Any color athletic or dance wear—BLACK LEATHER TAP SHOES. Tap shoes may be Oxford, lace up, or pull on.
JAZZ TECHNIQUE/LYRICAL/CONTEMPORARY: same as ballet/jazz classes but can wear dance socks, lyrical shoes etc
MUSICAL THEATER: Any dance wear or athletic wear that doe not inhibit movement. Majority BLACK attire preferred. Black or tan Jazz shoes required; recital number will determine jazz shoe color for performances.
HIP HOP: Dancers may wear any dance or athletic wear that does not inhibit movement especially on the floor! If a dancer has a skirt from ballet class, must be able to remove or put sweats or jazz pants over so as not to get caught in floor work. Shoes can be any lightweight sneaker as long as they are clean and not worn on the street. We recommend either dance sneakers or flat soled Adidas, sketchers etc. Recital performance costume will determine year end shoes.
ADULT CLASSES: any dance or athletic wear that does not inhibit movement; ballet attire should be more form fitting for proper alignment —black tap shoes; leather/canvas ballet shoes
